Calculating Pool Volume

It is an important fact to know how much water your pool holds. It is important because this info is needed before any dosage of any chemical can be determined correct. Make all your measurements in feet.

  1. Determine the average depth: (deep end depth)+(shallow end depth) =feet /2 = average depth.
  2. Calculate capacity using the formula given for your shape of pool.

Rectangular of Square- (Length)*(Width)*(average depth)*7.5=pool capacity in gallons.

Oval-(Max Length)*(Max Depth)*(Average Depth)*5.9=pool capacity in gallons.

Circle-(diameter)*(diameter)*(average depth)*5.9=pool capacity in gallons.
